Wine amphorae from Sabolić's donation

As part of the autumn edition of “Motifs of Podravina” (1-3 October 2021), the exhibition “Wine amphorae from Sabolić’s donation” will be set up on the ground floor of the Koprivnica Gallery and remain open until the end of October this year. The rich legacy of sculptor Ivan Sabolić includes five ceramic amphorae, three of which were used for wine transport. All of them will be presented to the public for the first time. Since they were personal gifts to the sculptor, they were deprived of the original archaeological context, but, given their date of creation (6th/7th and 11th centuries) and the known production centers, it is possible they had originated from various underwater archaeological sites (shipwrecks).

The program was implemented with European Union funds within the project "Wine folklore as a historical identity of Podravina and Pomurje" (reVITAlize) within the INTERREG V-A cross-border cooperation program Hungary-Croatia 2014-2020.
